Ever feel uncertain, confused, or frustrated when approaching slow moving Over Size Over Mass (OSOM) trucks?  Do the flashing lights of the pilot or traffic escort vehicle panic you?  Do you know how to deal with what’s ahead of you?

Well, Main Roads WA may have the answers you need!

To help ensure road users, and the driver, the load and the transport operator arrive safely at their destination, Main Roads WA has 5 tips for road users that will help them safely work with pilots and traffic escorts when travelling on our roads:

  • slow down and be prepared to stop if necessary,
  • always follow the directions given by Pilots or Traffic Escort Wardens,
  • leave plenty of room,
  • be patient and don’t tailgate, and
  • make sure there is plenty of clear road ahead before you overtake.
