Secure your home this Easter

Whether you’re heading overseas or camping down south this Easter, going away on holiday is always an exciting time.

Planning for your trip can be a lot of fun; researching your destination, booking tours, checking out the weather and choosing what clothes to take.

However, there are also a lot of things to organise around the home to make sure that everything is looked after while you’re away.

It’s no secret that home burglaries are on the rise. In this financial year alone we have seen an 11 per cent increase in home contents theft claims.

Summer burglary caution

Perth’s burglary rates spiked in the last half of 2015 compared with the same period in 2014, with WA Police reporting home burglary rates from July to November were an average of 18 per cent higher than the same months the previous year.

RAC sees spike in home burglaries

RAC is urging Western Australians to be vigilant when it comes to securing their homes, after it has reported a spike in the number of home burglaries this financial year.

RAC Insurance Home Claims Manager, Glen Walker, says there has been a 25% increase in the number of home burglaries for the July and August period this year, compared to the same two-month period in 2014.
