As RAC celebrates its 110 year anniversary, it presents an opportune time to take a look back at the people who have been with us on the ride.

And some of those people are the team at Midland Smash Repairs.

The family-run business has been in operation since 1965, and has been a preferred valued repair partner of RAC Insurance for 50 years.

Power of the Pedal

There was a lot of buzz at the Busselton foreshore last Sunday, and it wasn’t because of the free coffee for RAC Members!

On 9 August, the RAC Pedal Prix took place for the second year running with two RAC teams competing in the event – Win Diesel and Gold Rush.

43 human powered trikes took to the 900m track over a six hour race period. An average of 152 laps was ridden by a rotation of riders that kept everyone busy throughout the day. The winning team Relentless Racing SAWA Trump Trikes from Victoria reached 44.05km per hour and completed 245 laps with the best lap time of 01:16:8.

Our motorbike trainer competes in the National Road Racing Championship

RAC DTEC has expert trainers recognised for being at the top of their industry, with Leigh Boujos our motorbike trainer being no exception. Leigh recently competed in round 1 of the 2015 West Australian Road Racing Championship at Barbagello Raceway. Leigh’s success in the competition so far is a result of his extensive training in motorbike riding and racing. This highlights the importance of education and skills training in order to fully understand best practice methods in a safe and responsible way.

Leigh has always had an interest in anything with wheels and an engine, with a long standing family history in motorcycle racing which has led him to now ride with JB Racing on the state and national circuit. Round 1 of the Championship included three rounds and Leigh produced a great start to the morning having the second fastest time in the warm up, only 0.003 from the fastest time.

ApocaLaps Car Club

Back in May MC Motorsport had some impressive “overseas guests” test their rubber on our road circuit – The ApocaLaps Car Club – an American, UK & Australian muscle and classic cars club.

The ApocaLaps Car Club started in 2014 by a man called Justin Murphy because he wanted to mix with like-minded muscle / classic car enthusiasts while testing their car’s performance.
