RAC’s Community Education team would like to introduce you to some of our friends from the RAC Little Legends Club – a fun, free road safety membership for children. The Little Legends love to help us spread the word about being a safe road user. We sat down with Mel and Jack to talk about road safety.

Jack

How do you help the Community Education team teach people to stay safe on our roads?

Jack: We help spread the word about road safety using online game activities, worksheets, interactive in-class activities and by attending different events. It’s important that primary school students learn about being safe on and around our roads, whether that’s riding a bike or as a pedestrian or as a passenger in a car. We show them that road safety is fun!

Speaking of fun, what have you been doing recently?

Jack: We helped the Community Education team film short videos about road safety around school areas.

Why is road safety important?

Mel: We are all road users on most days, whether we’re a driver or passenger in a car, a pedestrian or a cyclist. It is up to all of us to do our bit to create safer roads for everyone.

Mel Little LegendsWhat is your top safety tip to keep people safe this year?

Mel: Speak up! If someone is on their mobile phone while driving a car, have the courage to speak up and ask them to turn it off and put it away. You could be saving your life, and the lives of many others in the process.

Anything else you would like to share?

Jack: I would like to leave you with a joke. Why did the chicken cross the road safely?
Because he stopped, looked, listened and thought before he crossed the road.
