For three consecutive years RAC travel has being giving back to members by showcasing WA’s hidden gems and reconnecting them with WA. RAC’s member events program has delivered over 50 unique events, providing 9000 members the opportunity to re-discover WA. These events are very affordable and are assured to be a great day out. Our first event for the year started off with a bang or rather, a splash! Over 200 members and their families attended the RAC Outback Splash Family fun day in Bullsbrook and members saved 30% on entry, received a complimentary ice-cream and coffee, discounts at Café Iguana and Snack Shack plus access to the parks many inclusions including – five mazes, mini golf, native animals and the very popular waterslide playground. 30 lucky members experienced the finer things in life by being wined and dined in Perth’s lesser-known but equally stunning wine region, the Perth Hills. Members spent the day visiting award winning wineries, sampling the regions gourmet food products and visiting the very popular and ‘busy’ CORE cider house. The day was a unique chance to discover something new, just a stone throws away from Perth. (Member cost: $85).

RAC members went wild for this exclusive and value packed family event. Over 1300 members were able to pack a picnic and join us in a restricted ‘RAC-only’ zone packed with free inclusions including a bouncy castle, children’s activities; face painting, popcorn and fairy floss. Set amongst the backdrop of one of Perth’s major tourist attractions, the Perth Zoo, members also enjoyed 25% off entry tickets just for RAC members. The event turned out to be fun and very affordable. (Member cost: $50 family pass)

Following the footsteps of the historic Holland Track, two departures joined 4WD expert Jeremy Perks at Global Gypsies to tackle a five day 4WD adventure from Hyden to Coolgardie. RAC members saved $100 per vehicle on this fully catered tour, enjoyed camping under the stars and practicing their 4WD’ing skills with likeminded people. (Member cost: $750)

Back by popular demand and a sell-out ‘black tie event’ in 2014, members experienced the glitz and glamour of the 1930’s inside Cabaret Cave at Yanchep National Park. The event included jazzy drinks, delicious canapés, a three course meal, live pianist, DJ and a photo booth. All set against a stunning underground backdrop, the event promised to be a night to remember. (Member cost: $150)

Travelling from Perth, 32 members followed the iconic CY O’Connor pipeline exploring the country towns of Meckering, Cunderdin, Doodlakine and Kellerberrin. Members experienced the Meckering earthquake first-hand, explored the Cunderdin Museum, visited Doodlakine to see incredible Christine Chandlers’ jewellery studio as well as took a look around the Hay Shed in Kellerberrin. Everyone was treated to amazing hospitality and accommodation at the Prev in Kellerberrin followed by star gazing by our expert in tow ‘Galaxy Girl’. The next day a quick tour of WA’s only chia-seed factory plus a taste of York Olive Oil Company’s fine produce, the weekend proved to be an enriching and educational experience for all. A group of energetic members joined RAC on an enlightening day tour through York, Tammin and Wyalkatchem. Both sell-out tours in 2014, members visited Laurelville Manor in York for morning tea, Hilltop Farm in Tammin to witness impressive fish farm in the middle of a paddock, lunch at Silos’ on 94 in Tammin and the historic CBH Museum before damper and billy tea at Henrys Hideaway (Wyalkatchem) was served warm and oozed with bush jam and honey in. This unique RAC event was a total hit! (Member cost $99)

This all inclusive tour gave members a true local’s taste of the Southern Wheatbelt region. Literally, members tasted their way through the Wheatbelt best gourmet food stops. Members also learnt about the history of the sheep shearing industry in Williams, witnessed Yabbie farming at Cambinata Yabbies and learnt how to collect Emu Eggs at Emu Essence in Kukerin all accompanied by generous meals and snacks. Our modern coach transport gave our two departures a chance to unwind and explore this amazing region with absolute comfort. (Member cost $99)

A sell out within the first week, this day trip out into the Avon and Chittering Valley proved to be very popular with members and wildflower enthusiasts alike. Members weaved their way to the top of Blackboy Ridge lookout, seeing wonderful colourful displays of flowers along the way followed by a hearty lunch stop at Stringybark Winery for some local wines, roast lamb and good cheer. With our wildflower expert on-board providing insightful commentary, the trip proved educational and very eye opening. (Member cost: $99)

Members headed south to experience the natural beauty of the Peel region. This action packed day saw members get in touch with their inner environmentalist at the Forest Heritage Centre, Dwellingup, then a quick wildflower stop followed by a country style lunch and walk around Edenvale Heritage Precinct in Pinjarra. The historical insights of the Peel continued with a commentated tour around the town of Jarrahdale. With a wildflower expert on board and plenty of wildflower photo opportunities, members got to see the Peel region in full bloom! (Member cost: $99)

Our members had the opportunity to re-discover the rich beauty and history of the Peel region on this unique tour. First stop was at Lake Clifton to view the very rare and ancient Lake Clifton thrombolites. Morning tea was enjoyed at Edenvale Heritage Precinct as well as a historical tour of the grounds. A 2 course lunch exceeded expectations at Mandurah’s Dolphin Quay, delivering scrumptious meals. Then members were treated to a relaxing cruise along the pristine inlets of Mandurah with afternoon tea and a commentated tour of the prehistoric past of Jarrahdale, to finish it off. Nothing short of an adventurous day and eye opening. (Member cost: $99)

Our pristine Peel region was explored by our members via its waterways on a beautiful spring day. First stop was delicious morning tea at Jarrahdale’s General Store, still standing from 1872 followed by a historical tour of the antiquated township. Mandurah was explored via the tranquil waterways on a relaxing 4 hour lunch cruise, served with a delectable buffet on-board. Halls Cottage was the last stop of the tour with our members discovering the history behind the charming cottage and the first pioneering families to have settled the region. (Member cost: $119).

100 members in 38 vehicles put their 4WD skills to the test along WA’s picturesque Turquoise Coast for an exciting weekend of adventure and 4WD education. Members tackled soft white dunes, beach driving as well as rugged sandy tracks in Leseuer National Park. RAC driving centre trainers took the lead, teaching the weekend’s valuable 4WD techniques. Everyone had the chance to fish in secret locations as well as even cook their catch and as the sun went down. The weekend ended on a high with a unique sunset drive and as darkness fell and members were able to experience the incredible Milky-way in all its glory amongst the otherworldly backdrop of the iconic Pinnacles. For our final event for 2015, RAC will pull out all the stops to ensure over 2000 members and their families’ experienced a day of fun and excitement. RAC members as well as Little Legend Club members will enjoy complimentary benefits including a sausage sizzle, bouncy castles, children’s activities, face painting, petting zoo and a visit from RAC’s Little Legends Club mascots, Chip & Ash, as well as a number of discounts throughout the park.
