At RAC, we say ‘yes’ to giving back to our members and the WA community. We’ve been doing it for over 110 years.

Through our Community Sponsorships program, we’ve provided more than 150 community initiatives across WA with $1 million since the program started in 2011.

We’re proud that over half of our sponsorships have benefited initiatives in regional WA such as Martu communities in the Pilbara, Mingenew in the Mid West, Boyup Brook in the South West, Albany in the Great Southern and Condinup and Leonora in the Goldfields-Esperance area.

We’re especially proud that Wheatbelt community initiatives in towns such as Lake Grace and Mukinbudin have received 25% of our total spend, where we’re working to improve road safety outcomes with our Elephant in the Wheatbelt.

Our Community Sponsorships program aligns with RAC’s priority to deliver safer, sustainable and more convenient travel options for our members and the wider WA community.

The program has three sponsorship categories including Partnership (up to $50,000), Project (up to $20,000) and Grass Roots (up to $5000). Some of our recent sponsorships include:

Partnership:

  • $45,000 to support West Australian Music’s (WAM) 2015 Wheatbelt Touring Circuit to deliver live music to the Wheatbelt whilst promoting local road safety.
  • $45,000 towards Cycle Safe’s off-bike cycling education program targeted at K-Year 4 aged students.

Project:

  • $20,000 towards the 2015 RAC Pedal Prix event that sees school and community groups design and build a three-wheeled human powered vehicle and compete in Busselton during August.
  • $10,000 to support the Heart Foundations 2015 Walk Over October campaign.

Grass Roots:

  • $5,000 to support road safety presentations by Sam Bailey, a once jackeroo who is now a quadriplegic as a result of a car crash at the annual Spring Field Day event in Dalwallinu & Mingenew.
  • $4,999 towards the Albany Sustainable Living Expo and Fair to promote alternative sustainable modes of transport to the Albany community.

RAC acknowledges the community project coordinators and partners for delivering the initiatives.

RAC is encouraging community groups across WA to apply for sponsorship. The next round of its Project category closes 29 June and its Grass Roots category is open all year. For more information, visit the Community Sponsorship section of RAC’s website.
