Hot off the press! Royal Caribbean’s third Quantum-class ship, Ovation of the Seas, will arrive in Sydney in 2016. Ovation of the Seas is the newest sister-ship of Quantum of the Seas and the newly deployed Anthem of the Seas. With the capacity to carry 5000 passengers and 1500 crew, Ovation of the Seas will be the largest and the most technologically advanced cruise ship ever to sail Australian waters.

The 167,800-ton ship includes several new cabin categories. Virtual balconies that dispel the traditional idea of an inside cabin, family-connected staterooms that prove more accommodating for large groups and studio staterooms with balconies that spoil the single traveller.

Just a few of the amazing ship amenities

  • SmartShip will offer high speed Wi-fi, allowing guests to stay connected throughout their voyage
  • The first Ripcord by iFLY skydiving experience
  • The North Star aerial observatory, which offers 360-degree views more than 90 meters above the sea
  • The Bionic Bar, where guests can place orders via tablet and watch as two bionic arms create a mixture in tune to the resident DJ without any human assistance
  • The multipurpose Two70 space is a lounge with 270-degree ocean views by day, and an immersive, multimedia entertainment spectacular at night, where technology fuses with entertainment via robotic video-screens, dramatic digital projection and high-flying aerialists and performers
  • The SeaPlex will be the largest indoor sports and entertainment complex at sea, offering bumper cars, a basketball court, roller skating and a circus school.

For the Families

Many of Royal’s signature family features return on Ovation of the Seas including its Adventure Ocean children’s program, Royal Babies and Tots Nursery, and DreamWorks entertainment and events with live character appearances from Shrek, Kung Fu Panda and Madagascar.

An H2O Zone kids’ water park will be featured on the top deck.

Who’s hungry? With 18 restaurants to choose from, surely not

As with Quantum, passengers may choose from 18 restaurants, including both free and for-fee options. The Dynamic Dining option, both in its original form and “classic” variety, includes free dining at four of the 18 restaurants.

Among the restaurant offerings on the ship, Royal Caribbean has partnered with some familiar names from the world of dining. Celebrity chefs Jamie Oliver (Jamie’s Italian), Michael Schwartz (Michael’s Genuine Pub) and Devin Alexander (Devinly Decadence at Solarium Bistro) shape the menus at three of the restaurant options (Jamie’s and Michael’s require an additional cover, Devinly Decadence is complimentary).
